On August 28, 2016, Rt Hon James B. Bolger, the 35th Prime Minister and Mr. Ben King, Ambassador, New Zealand visited the Faculty of Medicine, KKU where the New Zealand’s government provided financial support of 97 million New Zealand dollars or about 180 million Baht for the design and construction in 1975. During the visit, they saw the exhibition of history of collaboration between New Zealand and the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University led by Assoc. Prof. Associate Professor Apichat Jiravuttipong, Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs, Director, Srinagarind Hospital and Prof. Wanchai Watthanasap, Former President, Khon Kaen University.
Professor Apichat Jiravuttipong said; “Since 1954, New Zealand has been an active partner in Thailand’s development. Over the decades New Zealand funding has focused on education, through scholarships to New Zealand universities and assistance to Thai educational institutions. Khon Kaen has long been a focus of education cooperation between New Zealand and Thailand.”
