Lao PDR emergency medicine exchange program with KKU-MD


KKU-MD recently welcomed the following nurses and residents from Lao PDR for a medical emergency exchange training program:

2) Mr. Kongmenglee Laoyao, nurse (Duration: March 4 – 19, 2023)

3) Ms. Homkay Latsavong, nurse (Duration: March 18 – April 2, 2023)

4) Ms. Dorkchan Inthavong, nurse (Duration: March 18 – April 2, 2023)

5) Dr. Viengkeo Mittaphone, resident (Duration: March 4 – April 2, 2023)

6) Dr. Souvanthao Cherching, resident (Duration: March 4 – April 2, 2023)

 

This program was coordinated by Mr. Kensho Ueda, Project Coordinator, University of Tsukuba Hospital, Japan as part of the “Stop Accident Fatality increase by EMS development and Road safety (SAFER)” project aimed at reducing road fatalities and improving emergency medical services (EMS) in Vientiane, Lao PDR.

Aichi Medical University exchange students complete KKU-MD elective program

 

On March 17, 2023, we congratulated fifth-year medical students from the School of Medicine, Aichi Medical University, Japan on the completion of their elective exchange program with us. The program ran from February 18 to March 19, 2023 under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Aichi Medical University and Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. The students completing the program were Miss HONMI Tomoka, Miss ISHIDO Yu, Miss KAGEYAMA Yukiho, Miss MOTOMURA Riko, Miss NANAURA Ataka, Miss NIO Miki, Miss OHASHI Riho, Miss YOKOYAMA Kae, Mr. TAKAHASHI Riku, and Mr. TOMATSU Atsushi.

 

 

On their graduation day, delegates of International Challenge of Emergency (ICEM), our partner universities, from Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand also attended. On this occasion Associate Professor Chulapan Engchanil, Associate Dean for Students Affairs, Faculty of Medicine delivered a welcome speech. As the first medical school in Northeastern Thailand, the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University now offers world class services to students and patients from all parts of the world especially from Mekong sub-region countries, and our Srinagarind Hospital plays a key role as the education center for medical training in this region, she said. After that Dr. Rey Hinolan De Los Reyes, Dean, FEU-NRMF School of Medicine, Philippines delivered his speech and presented a token of appreciation to our faculty.

 

 

All Aichi medical students were asked do end-of-program presentations to share their elective experiences. All reported having impressive experiences in Thailand both inside and outside the classroom. In addition to medical experiences they enjoyed their daily life experiences, such as Thai food, people, culture, and places. At the end of the meeting, Associate Professor Engchanil presented a certificate of achievement to them.

 

 

KKU-MD congratulated Aichi medical students on their achievement. We were so pleased to be part of their successful time and so glad to have them in our faculty spending a wonderful time in Khon Kaen, Thailand.

KKU-MD welcomes exchange student from Gifu University Japan

 

On February 20, 2023, we welcomed Mr. Hidemasa Yonezawa, fifth year exchange student from the School of Medicine, Gifu University, Japan to our Department of Otorhinolaryngology.  The program is scheduled between March 8 and 30, 2023 under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between School of Medicine, Gifu University and Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University and relates to the first Faculty Strategic Issue on “Go International”.

Medical student from Mackenzie Evangelical College of Paraná Brazil joins KKU-MD exchange program


On March 7, 2023
, we welcomed Miss Nicole Geovanna Assuncao Rodrigues, fifth year exchange student from Mackenzie Evangelical College of Paraná, Brazil to our Departments of Biochemistry. She joined the research project on “Lipidomic Profiling of Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts (CAFs) Isolated from Cholangiocarcinoma Patients in the Northeast of Thailand” supervised by Associate Professor Nisana Namwat, PhD from March 8 to 30, 2023. This program’s objective is to encourage medical students to exchange research experience and skill, improve their English skills, and build strong network relationships.

Medical students from University of Bergen Norway join KKU-MD exchange program

 

On February 20, 2023, we welcomed Miss Marie Lien, Mr. Lars Martin Skår, and Miss Urd Sortvik, as elective exchange students to our Departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology. They will be based here from February 18 until April 2, 2023.
